A Persian shamshir, 1st half of the 19th century. A slightly curved single edge, heavy wootz-Damascus blade with double fullers on both sides. Silver inlay on both sides of the ricasso, the obverse chiselled with a long inscription cartouche, the reverse bearing a stylized lion. Quillons with remnants of silver inlay, bone grip scales, and iron pommel cap. The sabre may be easily improved by cleaning.
