Common items made from PVC. Polyvinyl chloride or PVC has a variety of uses. On a background of double-walled corrugated cabling pipes - (CW) an inflatable toy dinosaur, running shoes, credit card, electric cable insulation, packaging and petrol can. Polyvinyl chloride comes in two basic types - rigid and flexible. Originally synthesized in 1872, it was 50 years before a plasticizer formulae was discovered that made it commercially useable.
