General Overhauling Procedure In addition to the repairs at intermediate inspections,all cars are given a general overhauling at the end of a45,000-mile period. At this time the cars are carefullyinspected in a manner similar to that outlined for theintermediate inspection, with the addition of repaint-ing and varnishing and a thorough overhauling oftrucks and electrical equipment. The average time re-quired for this overhauling is from ten to twelve days,whereas only two or three days are required at the.
