Carnation Troubles. Ed. American Florist:— Can you tell me wliat is wrong with my carnations? .^bout half of the Law- son and Enchantress lack substance and the flowers are so loose as to be almost worthless. The plants were benched in .\ugust in five inches of compost, con- sisting of four parts of rotted loamy sod to one part of cow manure two years' old, over one inch of stable manure for drainage.
