Guandi Temple, Datong, Shanxi, China. Datong, near Yungang Grottoes, is a town with historical landmarks and a town in transition. Datong is now building a wall around its historical disrict, and inside are a mixture of historical buildings such as Guandi Temple, plus new structures. Sadly, old neighborhoods are raised for new development. Guandi is a beautiful landmark, well worth the visit, and the Datong historical district is a worthwhile stop if traveling north to see the grottoes.
