At the November meet-ing letters read from prominent men endorsing the wishing the society every success in its undertaking. A letterwas read from Senator Proctor of \crmcnt,pledging his support in everyway. .After theroutine busiiicss, the president of the society,Mrs. Russell was toasted loving senti-ment, it an anniversary of her v/eddingday. On July nth, 1S96, Mrs. Henry WhippleSkinner of Detroit, was appointed by thefounder of the Descendants c^fColonial Gover-nors, first chairman in Michigan, to organizethe order in that state. Mrs. Skinner wasMiss Henrietta Channinj Dana, youngestdaughter of the late Richard Henry Dana, f^oston, .Mass. She is a Colonial Dame ofMassachusetts by descent from GovernorsDudley and Bradstreet, and a Daughter of theAmerican Revolution by descent from WilliamEllerv, siener of the Declaration of Indepen-dence, and Chief Justice Francis Dana, mem-ber of the Continental Congress. She imme-diately began work and has now enrolledthirty-six descendants of Colonial Governors;sixteen men, and the following well-knownwomen: Mrs. John J. Bagley, Miss .M. L. I)a!dwin, Mrs
