Of this family Thomas Marling Aist-rope is the eighth in order of birth and withone exception is the only survivor. Thefather died when Thomas was only ten yearsof age and he then began working by the dayamong farmers of the neighborhood, receiv-ing twelve cents per day. At the age offourteen he entered the employ of WilliamFoster, who paid him four pounds for thefirst years service and also boarded second year he received five pounds andhis board.
