After one year he became Instructor inFrench, and in 18S8 he was advanced to the rankof Assistant Professor. He was also secretary of theFaculty of the Department of Literature, Scienceand the Arts from 1S75 to 1888. This title was the time of his death. He died suddenly on themorning of March i, 1906, at his home in AnnArbor. He was married in June, 1870, to Hen-. PAUL ROUSSEAU BELLON de PONT riette Wiltse, of New York. There were five chil-dren, of wh(jm three survive : Edward Paul, HenriPierre, and Donald Maclean. LEO DWIGHT MINER, a graduate of theUnited States Naval Academy in 18S0, and anAssistant Engineer in the Navy, was appointedx-^ssistant Professor of Mechanical and Marine Engi-neering in the LTniversity in 1S99 and served forone year. He is now a Lieutenant-Commander inthe Navy. FRANK NELSON COLE was born atAshland, Massachusetts, September 20, 1S61, son ofOtis and Frances Maria (Pond) Cole.
