SMITH & CO , General Commission Merchants, 12 Bridge Square—The commissionhouse of H. S. Smith & Co., general commission merchants of No. 12 Bridge Square, is doing a healthytrade. The concern was established about two years ago, but as an indication of the push and energyof the two members of the firm it may be noted that the volume of trade (which was large in the firstyear for a new concern) was more than doubled in the second year. In fact, it would be hard to finda more complete team of business men than Mr. H. S. Smith and his partner, Mr. McLean. Mr. Smithcomes from Michigan, and has been connected with general merchandise all his life. He looks after theinternal business of the office and the finances. Mr. McLean came from Wisconsin, having been in. Their oranges, bananas, etc., are shipped direct, in car lots, from Florida and Cali-fornia. They employ about ten hands, and their trade is ever on the increase.
