McWhirter, superintendent of repair division is under the general foreman of therepair shop and the foreman of electrical repairs, both atSixty-fifth Street, and a separate foreman in charge ofeach of the inspection quarters. An office staff at Sixty-fifth Street has charge of all maintenance records. The policy of having the repair work done at one placeis working out very well, as it enables the management toselect specialists who can be held responsible for maintain-ing the standards adopted for each kind of work. Thusone man specializes in packing journal boxes, another inconnecting motor leads, etc. A great deal of trouble arosein the past from ignorant and irresponsible workmanshipat the car houses.
