Coast Guard's Grumman UF1G "Albatross". Pictured in flight over New York City, this twin-engined monoplane amphibian is designed for rescue, transport and general utility use. It carries a crew of four, and has accommodations for 12 passengers, or 12 litter cases as a rescue or ambulance aircraft. The planes are based at Coast Guard Air Stations throughout the country, and are particularly valuable in off-shore operations. The "Albatross", with a maximum fuel load, has a cruising range of approximately 2,800 nautical miles.
