Youngest of the great wateringplaces of Colorado, its distinction lies in theextraordinary character and voluminous flowof the springs, the unique manner in whichthey have been brought into service, and thesuperb hotel, bath-house and park with whichthe natural attractiveness of the spot has beenperfected. In the middle of the park the larg-est spring feeds an enormous pool, coveringmore than an acre, from three to five feet149. deep, paved with smooth brick and walled withsandstone. A fountain of cold mountain-waterin the center tempers the pool to gradationsthat radiate to its rims. Here bathing is inseason throughout the year. In winter orsummer the temperature of the water and ofthe immediate atmosphere has the same deli-cious warmth, and all the snow and ice thatColorado can boast in January at an altitude ofover five thousand feet does not interferewith out-of-door bathing at Glen wood , rheumatism, diseases of the blood, andmany ailments that do not yield to medicine areeither wholly cured or relieved by these the bath-house are private bath-rooms,with attendants and all manner of appliances,for those who prefer them, or to whom thepublic pool is unsuited.
