A doll hangs on the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, southern Mexico City, December 28, 2012. The late Don Julian turned his "chinampa," a small artificial island where he grew food, into what is now known as the Island of the Dolls, as he hung dolls found floating around his home to scare away the ghost of a child who had drowned. Today visitors can tour the island as it is maintained by on of his nephews.
