CREWS, of Totowa, Pas-saic County, Superintendent of Lau-rel Grove Cemetery, was bom inChatham, Kent County, England,December 4, 1869, son of James Mary A. (Cook) Crews. Both of his parents were natives of Plymouth,England. They removed with their family to Can-ada, and are now living at North Bay in the Provinceof Ontario, where the father conducts a successful. He received his early education in thepublic and high schools of the Town of Pembroke,Ontario, subsequently pursuing a scientific course inthe School of Science of Toronto. During his boy-hood he learned the boat and skiff building businesswith his father, but deciding on other occupations heobtained employment with the Canada Pacific Rail-road Company, with which he served for one year inthe engineering corps.
