Tupper, d. d. ,late Secretary of the Foreign Mission Board of the SouthernBaptist Convention. His mother was sister to Rev. J. , d. d., , for years president of the Southern BaptistTheological Seminary and the Southern Baptist Convention. , Jr., was born in Washington, Ga., June 22, 1856. Atthe age of thirteen he entered Charleston College, S. C, andafter a course in this institution he became an alumnus of Rich-mond College and the University of Virginia. In May, 1879,he took the full diploma from the Southern Baptist TheologicalSeminary. He has been successively pastor of the Harrodsburg,Ky., Baptist Church, Broadway Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.,and of the Seventh Baptist Church, Baltimore, Md.
