Verona is a city in Northern Italy which features in Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet and also in his drama Two Gentlemen of Verona. Verona is famous for its Roman amphitheatre, the Arena, completed around 30 AD, which is the third largest in Italy, after Rome's Colosseum and the arena at Capua. It measures 139 meters long and 110 meters wide, and could seat some 25,000 spectators in its 44 tiers of marble summer they present operas in the Roman Amphitheatre or Arena in the centre of the city of Verona. This is attended each night by over 20,000 spectators. The productions by Franco Zefferelli are world renowned. This is a small walkable city with much history and interesting buildings and piazzas.
