Roland Thaxter (1858-1932), US mycologist, with a dog. Thaxter is best known for his work the fungal group Laboulbeniales and published many individual papers and a five volume work on the subject. In 1902, he received the Prix Desmazieres from the French Academy for this work. Photographed in 1928.
