Forest Hills Elementary School in Lake Oswego, Oregon remains shuttered as Oregon Health authorities have identified a school staff member as having a positive COVID-19 Ccoronavirus test, verified by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. Lake Oswego School District Superentendent, Dr. Lora de la Cruz stated that a "deep cleaning" of the school is being undertaken as a precaution.

The WHO has declared the 2019–20 coronavirus outbreak to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).As of 29 February, China, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States are areas having evidence of community transmission of the disease.
