The number of men employed is about165, the amount of pay roll every week being about $2, power employed to run the works is an 80 horse powerengine, patented by the Superintendent and built by thecompany. The machines made by them are known over thewhole world. They have sent them to England, France,Germany, Austria, Australia and the east and west coastsof South America, and New Zealand ; also, to Californiaand all parts of the United States and Canadas. Their ma-chines received the only gold medal awarded this branch of Webbs N. E. Railway and Manufacturers Statistical Gazetteer. 533 awarded at the Paris Exposition of 1867.
