Ruins of the Nymphaeum monumental fountain in Side, Turkey. Nymphaeum, built in the 2nd century AD, lays outside the city walls opposite the city gate. The fountain itself was formed by a three storey high façade which was decorated by columns, niches and sculptures. The façade is formed by three semi-circular niches. Water flowed to the pool below from spouts in these niches which were covered with half domes.
