Growing cell culture. Researcher Isabelle Richard examining a cell culture in a jar. The nutrient medium (pink) will have been inoculated with a cell sample and then incubated at 37 degrees Celsius (body temperature) to promote growth. This is a visual check to ensure that the cell culture is developing as expected. The cells will then be studied and used in further research. A wide range of cells are grown and studied in this manner, such as cancer cells and stem cells. Photographed at the Genethon Laboratory in France.
