Text How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of himthat bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace, that bringethgood tidings of good, that publisheth salvation, that saithwito Zion, Thy God reigneth. Isaiah 52:7. HE very charm of our text andthe beauty of its words, mayblind us to the thought. Thesewords sound very religious;and they are. They have beenapplied to the preaching ofthe Gospel in Churches, andthey may be. But they did not mean that atall to the mind of the prophetic writer. He was speaking to the children of Israelwhen they were in exile and enduring hard-ship. He referred to the courier who carriedthe news of the battle. The Israelites couldnot send messages to Jerusalem by wire. Theycould not depend for their despatch bearers onthe wireless with its swift wings of thelightning. They depended upon the swiftcourier who could come over the hills of Zionwith his message. What is meant by these words may be illus-trated by my own experience in having mes-sages come
