, Bellapais, Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus - Bellapais Abbey ruins. Augustinian monks, who had to flee from Jerusalem, established die abbey in the 13th century during the reign of the French kings. The name Bellapais is a short form of Abbaye de la Paix (Abbey of the Peace). The ruin, a few kilometers from Kyrenia, is a well-known tourist feature of the island and lies in the Pentadaktylos Mountains (byname Five Finger Mountains).
