Earthquake Damage around the village of Kaiapoi, New Zealand, after the magnitude earthquake on 3rd September 2010. Silt Liquefaction; Fissures.


Over 800 homes and 400 commercial buildings were destroyed by, or demolished following the magnitude Earthquake that occurred on 3September 2010. The Fault-line (Greendale Fault) had about 6m lateral displacement and 1m vertical displacement. All manner of machinery was used to clear up the thousands of tonnes of liquefaction silt deposited around streets and homes and in gardens.
