Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) personnel prepare to lower a transfer case containing possible remains of unidentified service members from the Battle at Tarawa from a C-20G Gulfstream IV aircraft during an honorable carry, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Nov. 20, 2018. The contents of the transfer case will be examined by forensic anthropologists and forensic odontologists at the DPAA skeletal identification laboratory. DPAA’s mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the nation.
