H., November 22, 1811, died inTewksbury July 19,1885, aged seventy four. Son of Joseph andSally (Chesley) Huntress. He came to Lowell in 1832, and ob-tained emplovuient on the Lowell Mercury, having; previouslycompleted his apprenticeship as a printer in Portsmouth, N. established the Low^ell Courier in 1835, and continued to pub-lish it until 1842, Avhen, on account of poor health, he retired toa farm in Tewksbur}^ and remained a resident there until the dateof his death, a period of forty-three years. During this extendedresidence, he was fifty-three times elected
