Canarina, canariensis: Perennial herb, annual in its upper parts, with a thick and deep tuberous root. Stems that are more or less twining or hanging, branched and fleshy, up to three metres long. Leaves that are opposite, somewhat fleshy, petiolate, triangular, hastate (arrow-shaped).The flowers, about 6 cm long and very showy, are bell-shaped, red or orange in colour. The fruit is a fleshy berry full of small seeds, orange in colour and 3 or 4 cm in diameter.
