ISTANBUL, Turkey / Türkiye — Statue of Poseidon (God of the sea), made of marble, from Lebanon, and dating to around the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD, on display in the main building of the Istanbul Archaeology Museums. The Istanbul Archaeology Museums, housed in three buildings in what was originally the gardens of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey, holds over 1 million artifacts relating to Islamic art, historical archeology of the Middle East and Europe (as well as Turkey), and a building devoted to the ancient orient.
