Sovereign House, Brighton, United Kingdom. Architect: Ben Adams Architects, 2012. Overall office floor view.

This project involved the insertion of a five storey infill into an existing oversized atrium in a large office in Brighton. The infill features full height glazing with a top floor mezzanine level which is open to the existing trusses and glazed roof above. Two bespoke LED lighting installations, designed in collaboration with specialist lighting consultant Aideen Malone, will hang on either side of the infill in the two remaining smaller atrium spaces. New fully glazed curtain walling at the entrance allows light to penetrate into the reception, illuminating the full height Corian wall panels and resin floor. Recessed ceiling lights lead the visitor to the waiting area which is defined by a bespoke timber slatted installation. Pre-fabricated concrete furnishings create additional seating areas, along with a bespoke designed reception desk which acts as a focal point for the visitor.
