After the transporter/erector vehicle at the Launch Facility is backed up to K-11's massive launch tube door and bolted to mounts at the edge of the opening, STAFF SGT. Johnnie Wheeler, 341 MXS, turns a handcrank on one of the hydraulic jacks under the vehicle. The jacks are used to make the vehicle level, stabilize it during operation, and adjust the angle that the missile is hoisted up into the transporter/erector.
