Muchis to be said in favor of the food habits of the littletip up, as the bird includes in its diet army worms,squash bugs, cabbage worms, grasshoppers, greenflies and crayfishes. Having thus earned a rightto be numbered among the farmers friends, thebird should be exempt from persecution. The tinymorsel of flesh afforded by its plump little body,when the bird has been shot, is in no sense anadequate return for its services when alive andactive in our behalf. 531.
