Harding, of Macroom, read an address from [the tenants] to the Viscount upon the attainment of his testimonial consisted of four large massive wine-ewers, highly chased, and in frosted and burnished silver of Louis Quatorze style. There were also twelve large silver goblets of the same fashion, and equally-well finished. The whole cost between £100 and £500, and the articles were manufactured expressly for the occasion. The Earl of Bandon entertained all his tenants at dinner that all joined heartily in drinking the young Lord's health'. From "Illustrated London News", 1871.
