Guangzhou’s largest park, Yuexiu Gongyuan, is dominated by Zhenhai Lou (Tower Overlooking the Sea). The tower was built as a memorial to the seven great sea journeys undertaken between 1405 and 1433, by the eunuch Admiral Zheng He. Zheng travelled to east Africa, the Persian Gulf and Java.
