July 30, 2023 - Rome, Italy: Solemn celebration navigating the river Tiber in honor of Madonna del Carmine, Our Lady of Roman Citizens called "de Noantri". The bearers of the statue weighting 1,6 tons, are the Venerable Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and Maria del Carmine in Trastevere. The feast was officially instituted in 1927, but the origins date back to the 16th century. In 1535, after a flood, a statue of Mary carved out of cedar wood was found along the shores of the Tiber river. © Andrea Sabbadini
