Shrewsbury hospital uses an automatic number plate recognitions system for car parking. A camera photographs every vehicle entering the site. The owner pays when they leave. They tap in the vehicle registration number and a photograph of their vehicle appears on a screen. The owner confirms it is their vehicle and the machine then charges according to the tariff. The hospital car park is barely adequate for the number of users and a machine being out of order is highly inconvenient.
