The wholesale grocery trade in this city has avery strong exponent in the well known house ofMessrs. Martin & Dure. This business was established about three andone-half years ago, and has grown at such a rate thatit is now one of the largest in the city. The building occupied is 28x100 feet in dimen-sions, with a wing about 14 feet wide on the rear, fivestories and a basement being in use. The building isfitted with every device tending toward the lesseningof labor and the quick delivery of orders. A very heavy stock is carried, comprising care-fully selected lines of fancy and staple groceries,canned goods, cigars, tobacco and dried fruits andthe many other things in this line.* The constant employment of about ten men isnecessary, and two teams are kept to deliver trade lies all over this state and portions of Penn-sylvania, Maryland and the peninsula, and
