Maxhutte Ironworks museum in Chiemgau, Bavaria, Germany. Viewed from the Hochfelln Mountain cable car.
The Maxhütte in Bergen (1562-1932) looks back on a history of great significance as the one time largest and most important ironworks in Bavaria. Originally the Bergener ironworks was an old hammer mill , bought by Pankratz von Freyberg, the holder of the domain of Hohenaschau and Wildenwart in 1561, which he had enlarged into an ironworks. The basis of this were the iron ore deposits on the Teisenberg.
