Rick Cornejo Saturday Message ASHE MISSIONARY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION The 1999/2000 Ashe Baptist Association isdedicated in Honor of:Virginia Bowers Sexton. On August 21, 1999 Virginia Bowers Sexton attended her 74lh Ashe Baptist Asso-ciation annual meeting held at Orion, her home church. Mrs. Sexton, who \>ashorn to Baxter and Kate Bare Bowers on December 31, 1915, a warm sunnx day,attended her first convention at the age often. She remembers that day when theconvention was held at Orion, and her whole Family walked across the mountainand carried food in large baskets made In Mr. Elijah Patrick. She remembersthat there were no women delegates and that the delegates spent the night withchinch members. I he delegates from Warrcnsxille and Phoenix spent the nightat the Bowers home. Virginia made a profession of faith at age 15 and joined Orion Baptist (hutchwhere she has been a member all her life. Virginia eloped with the Rex. Sex-ton on August 10, 1939.
