Nutcracker Man. Artwork of the skull of the Paranthropus boisei hominin fossil known as Nutcracker Man. It is formally known as OH 5 (Olduvai Hominid number 5), and is also called Zinjanthropus and 'Dear Boy'. Discovered in Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, in 1959, this fossil dates from around million years ago. P. boisei is an extinct hominid species that forms part of the human evolutionary tree, though a divergent branch to that which led to modern humans.
