The di-verted line will bear the same relation tothe new canal as the present line does tothe present canal, following upon the westside of the locks, but remaining on thewest side of the canal for some distanceabove the present lock 25, when it will elevation of 382 ft. above sea level, whichis the level of the present canal at thatpoint. This will enable small vessels, whichwish to do so, to use the Port Dalhousieentrance as at present, as far as lock 3 will be located immediatelv north. ^77 Weller, M. Can. Below lock 3 a heavycutting will be required through the vil-lage of Homer to the bed of Ten MileCreek again, above Carleton St., and just elevation of 335/2 ft. above sea level, andwill flood about 200 acres of land in andadjoining the bed of Ten Mile Creek. Be-low lock 2 the canal will follow the bedof the creek to the lake, lock 1 being situ-ated just below the Lake Road. The pondat the head of lock 1 will cover an areaof 107 acres. The outer entrance piers in Lake Ontariowill be placed about a mile and a half fromshore, where the depth of water is 30 wide channel will be dredged fnm thesepiers to lock 1.
