Yoga @ Ramana's Seva Samiti - children's home and primary school was formed in rishikesh india
During her attendance at the 8th International Yoga Festival Gurmukh Kaur Khasala co-founder and director of legendary LA Yoga studio Golden Bridge took time out to visit pupils of a local school and childrens home on and give them one of her trademark Kundalini yoga sessions. It was held in a studio that was funded by 20000 dollar donation from her. The school known as Ramana's Seva Samiti - childrens home and primary school was formed in 1994 by american Praba Ramana 1km up from Rishikesh in a small hamlet called Laxman Jhula. Ramana also has an organic restaurant and cafe on site 'Ramana's Garden' . It is a bit of a local landmark and the visiters [mainly westerners it attracts ] bring in much needed funds for the school. The children are orphans or from underprivileged backgrounds according to Ramana the yoga has had a wholly beneficial effect on the kids improving their ability to concentrate and behave themselves. Gurmukh is one of the worlds most renowned yoga practioners with a whole host of A list celebrities gracing her classes such as Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.
