Iarrived about seven , but a careful survey of the whole surface failed toreveal any of the Grebes. Neither was the second bird upon the nest, thoughthe warmth of the eggs attested her recent departure. Securing a boat, ^Idrifted about the pond, searching the edge of the rushes, and soon was rewardedby a movement a hundred yards or so below the first nest.
