Enlisted in the Federal army at 17 years of age and serving with theUnion army in Virginia, was successively promoted until March, 1S65, when he wasbrevetted major, for long and faithful service and gallant conduct in the field. .Afterthe war he settled in Cincinnati and is one of the Queen Citys most active and stanchbusiness men.
