Comparative Life of Steel Tubular and Cast Iron Boilers. ONK of our customers near New York who, six years ago, ])ut in a steel tubular boiler, has never yet had to replace a tube; while another customer near Philadelphia had to re-tube the entire boiler and patch the shell in three years' time. The life of a tubular Ix)iler all depends on the kind of water in different localities—some destro\-the steel slowly—others are so charged with carbonites and acids as to be speedily destructive. Steel tubular boilers, due to such causes which are entireh beyond the control of their makers, are an uncertainty. Re-tubing steel boilers is an expensive operation. Cast iron, because of its intensely hard, compact nature, will greatly several steel boilers, even when the most destructive water is used. Cast iron boilers are entirely free from re-tubing or shell- patching expense. If your range is so large that a tubular boiler IS a necessity, then there is no way to get around it. But if you have 37,IHK) square feet of glass or less, then our cast iron boilers are unquestionably b\- far the Cheapest boilers tO install, operate and keep in repair.
