Christmas Card: contemporary paper cutting (Wycinanka) by Miss Wanda Skowron from Warszawa Poland


Wanda Skowron was born in 1936 in Warsaw, Poland. She studied history and taught and ran libraries. She has practiced the art of paper-cuttings from an early age. She represents in them the plants, birds or fragments of landscapes. "Traditional paper-cuttings were created using sheep shearing scissors but it is possible to use any scissors as long as they have a sharp points. The scissors are used as a drawing tool without the need to mark or draw the design first." Wanda Skowron lives in Warszawa (Warsaw) Poland
