Temperature observations cover only the short period since com-petent observers were at hand to record them—about two years; andthe following tables apply to the region of Todos Santos Bay. Theinterior valleys are hotter, the elevated mountain regions cooler. Therainfall varies also. In the mountain region it rains in midsummer aswell as in winter, and the annual rainfall is greater than on the Pa-cific coast. I have been unable to secure complete daily returns fora whole year. In a new country observers are apt to be sent off toother work, and thus the records are incomplete. The reports I giveshow the greatest heat of the summer months and the lowest tem-perature of the winter, with the daily variations. These are the factswhich physicians and invalids most need.
