KISER: The first view shows a modern typefour-wheel electric locomotive, weighing thirteen tons, equippedwith two fifty horse-power motors, wired for a five-point rheo-static controller, with a separate switch for throwing the motoreither in series or parallel. This locomotive will develop 3503pounds draw-bar pull continuously for one hour at a speed ofsix miles per hour, or on an ordinary level mine track will pullforty loaded cars of three tons each, without overloading, andis capable of an overload for short periods of 75 per cent withoutimdue heating. The locomotive is nothing more than a heavy cast ironframe on which the motors are suspendetl in the same way asin street railway practice—the motors themselves being, as arule, the heavier type street railway motors.
