The seaward half of the broch has been destroyed by erosion but the E side including the entrance passage stands up to 3m high. The broch was built in the late first millennium BC close to a freshwater stream and a landing-place for boats. It was protected by steep cliffs & a landward wall. Use of the outbuildings continuing to around AD500. The Hill of Borwick is visible to the rear.
