The Occupy protest resulted in a camp site outside St. Paul's Cathedral which went on for 4 months in 2011/2012.

The Occupy protest, which started in October 2011, was meant to be at the Stock Exchange. But the demonstrators were turned away from there, and so they set up camp virtually next door outside St. Paul’s Cathedral. Their accidental presence at that site caused serious ructions in the Church. It took a while for the legal wheels to turn but an eviction order eventually cleared the camp outside St. Paul’s on 28 February 2012. The protest was about the lack of affordable housing; social injustice; corporate greed; and the undue influence of corporates and lobbyists on Government.
