Bell-Boeing MV-22B Osprey tilt rotor aircraft of the US Marines in hover mode with engines rotated upwards

The Osprey is a hybrid design combining aspects of both aircraft and helicopter thanks to its rotating engine nacelles. With engines pointing upwards, it can take off and land vertically and hover in the air. Once airborne, it can rotate its engines forwards and fly on the lift generated by its short wings, enabling it to fly faster and over a longer range than a helicopter of equivalent size.
